Born: Indianapolis, Indiana
Background:
- Graduate of Indianapolis High School, class of 1893
- Graduate of University of Pennsylvania School of Architecture, class of 1896
- Graduate of Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris in 1901
- Joined father's architectural firm until entering World War
- During war engineered and built many field and base hospitals in France
- Upon return from war became architect for Indiana, Purdue, and DePauw Universities -Designed Jordan Hall at Butler University
- J. K. Lilly and Eli Lilly homes on Sunset Lane in Indianapolis
- Designed several buildings for the Indiana University School of Medicine
- Designed buildings for Long and Riley Hospitals
- Designed several buildings for Eli Lilly and Co.

Notable work in Hancock County: Lilly Biological Laboratories - Built in 1913. 2 miles West of Greenfield on U.S. 40.

The complex consists of three buildings: the Tower Building flanked by two adjacent two-story buildings connected to the main building by pergolas. The buildings are in the Spanish Colonial Revival style with red tile roofs and arched openings. The Tower Building features a prominent 80-foot tall tower with five levels topped by a pyramidal red tile roof. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
