F. A. Building. . This building was constructed by F.A. Bulleit (1876-1935) in 1895. Various businesses located here including a pool room, bowling alley, skating rink and a pub. The Dream Theatre moved here in October 1930 from its original location in the Beanblossom Building on Chestnut Street but in two years moved to 215 East Chestnut Street. The Kirkham-Miller appliance store operated here until the late 1940s when the popular Rex Lunch and Bar moved from Chestnut Street. The bar, approximately 75 feet long, was believed to be the longest in southern Indiana. Afterwards, several businesses located here, including Associated Business and The Christmas Goose. The Simpson, Thompson and Colin law firm renovated the building and moved their offices here in 2014. These buildings facing Capitol Avenue are excellent examples of the cast iron storefronts manufactured by the George L. Mesker Company of Evansville, Indiana. Mesker was one of the largest manufacturers of cast iron storefronts in the nation. Cast iron storefronts were popular during the late 1800s and early 1900s.
