Blaine H. Wiseman Visitors Center. . The Visitors Center is built on the site of the Strother M. Stockslager house which was built in the 1850s. The large and rambling house had eleven outside doors. Stockslager was a U.S. Congressman from 1881 to 1885 and served as Land Commissioner. After his death, his wife and daughter, Georgia Stockslager Fisher, lived in the house until Georgia died in 1967. Star Cleaners operated out of the house until it moved to a new building on Walnut Street. Harrison County bought the Stockslager house, demolished it and made a parking lot for their employees. The Harrison County Convention and Visitors Bureau built the Visitors Center in 1981 and the restrooms were expanded in 2000 with the help of a donation by Blaine Wiseman., (caption)The Stockslager House is on the left and the first Corydon Public Library is to the right., A project of the Harrison County Bicentennial Committee: Bill Brockman, Historian
