Inscription.
The last decades of the 19th century and first decades of the 20th century were the high mark of Newport and Oliver Township industrialization and manufacturing. This pen and ink drawing by T.M. Fowler, Morrisville PA, portrays a prosperous river town still surrounded by a rural countryside.

Along the way, we taxed ourselves to create a public water system in the 1890s, and a sanitation system in the 1950s. We built public schools. We established a library a century ago. We constructed magnificent buildings for our religious congregations.
