Inscription.
Kaymoor's headhouse stood directly in front of you. This structure was used to start the movement of coal from the mine to the market. A loaded coal car was weighed in the headhouse at the top. Its contents were then dumped into a storage bin in the lower part of the structure. The stored coal was loaded into a monitor car and lowered 500 feet down a track (gravity incline) to the processing plant and railroad shipping lines next to the river. This process happened up to 30 times per hour when enough coal was available.

[Sidebar:]
Getting coal from the mines to the railroad was a challenge. Kaymoor's gravity incline used a monitor system, a loaded car lowered by a cable on a track. This cable system also connected to an empty car at the bottom of a parallel track, which was drawn back up to the headhouse at the same time.
