Friends and Neighbors
Thurmond residents and visitors had many opportunities to get acquainted during the town's boom years. Business, church, and school offered chances to socialize, as did activities like shopping, eating out, attending dances, and gambling. Traveling ministers and politicians also brought people together. This building was a favorite spot in town, housin a restaurant, retail store, telephone switchboard, and apartments.

Eating Out in Thurmond
Şeveral restaurants served Thurmond over the years, including a pizzeria and a place with Greek food. The last restaurant to operate in town was the Bankers Club, which served patrons until 1988 in what was once the lobby of the National Bank of Thurmond, the building to your left.
