1. Labuzon-Stirling House Marker
Inscription. Built ca. 1855 for Charles A. Labuzan, the raised-cottage Labuzan-Stirling House originally stood on a beachfront site. Labuzan (1807-1869) fought in the Mexican War, was a brigadier general of Louisiana state troops, and served in the Civil War. In 1877, Stephen Cobb Stirling (1847-1926) purchased the property as a gift for his wife Amanda, a grandniece of Jefferson Davis. The house, along with other beachfront residences, was moved to this location in 1904 to make way for the construction of the White House Hotel.
