1. First Baptist Church Original Site Marker
Inscription. Interested Baptists met April 15, 1909, in town's central school, one block north, and organized with 21 charter members. Dr. Webb Brame, Baptist missionary-chaplain, called as first pastor. Worship services during first year held at City Hall. First revival July 1909 added 22 new members and raised $649 to buy corner lot. Original wood- frame church building dedicated April 10, 1910. After Hurricane Katrina destroyed worship center, administrative, and educational buildings August 29, 2005, congregation voted to relocate church campus to 300 North Cleveland Avenue.
Originally erected April 15, 1999, by Long Beach Historical Society and First Baptist Church. Restored after Hurricane Katrina.
