Excerpt: After 75 years, finally a monument for the victims of the last 'bomb' on Rotterdam - In one fell swoop, brothers Ben and Jos Verweij lost both their parents, two brothers and two sisters. The boys were then five and three years old. It happened in the early morning of March 18, 1945. A German V-weapon landed on houses in Treubstraat and Kerdijkstraat in the Bergpolder district of Rotterdam. A total of 34 people died. Nearly fifty people were injured.(Submitted on March 23, 2024.)
After 75 years there is a monument for this tragic event, which was hardly commemorated until a few years ago. The monument on the square at Kerdijkstraat and Treubstraat was to be unveiled on March 18, but a few days before the unveiling, the corona measures came into effect and the artwork that was already ready had remain packed.
