1. William T. Gross Plaza Marker
Inscription. Bill Gross joined Douglas Aircraft in 1952, in the engineering division at the Santa Monica Plant. After a few challenging assignments on the DC-7 and DC-8, he joined the DC-9 project, where he served as Chief Design Engineer, and later as assistant Chief Project Engineer. At the start of the DC-10 program, Bill was named Advanced Project Engineer, and moved into the DC-10 Program office as Deputy Program Manager. Following this assignment he was named Executive Vice President and finally President of the Douglas Aircraft Company.
