1. About the move from Southwest DC
This church cornerstone shares very succinctly that it is "formerly of S.W." Southwest DC was razed in the 1950s in one of the country's first urban renewal experiments. Thousands of residents, many of whom were African American, were displaced from the Southwest quadrant during this time.
