1. The Parkland Library Marker

Inscription. On November 15, 1988, with the permission of the Parkland City Commission, Carolyn Marks established Parkland's library in the concession stand of Quigley Park. The small room became the stepping stone to the present library approved by the City Commission in 1990. The Parkland Library is unique because it is one of very few non-county libraries in Broward County.

The library moved to a double-wide trailer on the grounds just north of 'Old City Hall' at Parkside Drive and Holmberg Road. The trailer officially celebrated its grand opening on November 15, 1992.

The groundbreaking for the present Parkland Library occurred on April 12, 2002. The 10,000-square-foot library officially opened on June 3, 2003, within the City Hall Complex. The library includes an extensive children's book collection, community meeting room, and story garden. Members of the Parkland Friends of the Library help to maintain community engagement and interest in the library.

The 7,500-square-foot children's wing and remodeled adult library opened on February 2020.
