Inscription.
I nærieiken her vart det spelt ørebank.

Stortinget

This site is called "Stortinget", which is the name of the Norwegian parliament. This was one of several places in Vikøyri where people gathered and exchanged news. The name indicates that it was mostly political matters that were discussed here. Many of the old residents in Vikøyri were keen supporters of the Liberal Party, whereas the younger people

leant more towards the Labour Party. After radios had become common in households people would go home to listen to the news and then come back out to inform their friends and neighbors latest news.
There were also other meeting places in Vikøyri. Above the quayside was a bench called Lassabenken. When the sun came out in the spring the bench was a very popular place to meet.

Stortinget
