Inscription. While serving in the Army during the Korean War, Coffee Butler performed for the troops. After his national service he played baseball professionally in Cuba and throughout the Caribbean until 1960.

Coffee gained recognition for sharing the music he loved so much. He was featured on the Al Hirt Show, and appeared at NYC's Apollo Theater and Howe's Lounge. Coffee Butler even played for the Beatles when they visited Key West in 1964

Known as the face of Key West, Coffee is a legendary fisherman as well, having landed an impressive, record-setting 500-pound Goliath grouper at Mallory Square.

"Music is everything to me," said the artist, whose notable venues include The Brown Derby, Logan's Lobster House, Hukilau Restaurant and Lounge, Casa Marina Resort, The Caribbean Island Expose, and Little Room Jazz Club.

In honor of Coffee's lifetime of bringing joy through music, the City of Key West has declared this beautiful performing arts venue to forever be known as:

The Coffee Butler Amphitheater at Truman Waterfront in Key West, Florida.
