Jacob’s Family. . Jacob and Josephine Leinenkugel had five children. Though one child passed away as an infant, all four of their remaining children grew up helping out at the brewery. Mathias "Matt," born in 1866, attended school until he was 16 and began working at the brewery the following year. Initially working in brewery sales, Matt was ultimately promoted to president in 1907, serving until his death in 1927. Born in 1867 and 1870 respectively, Theresa "Rose" and Susan began working full-time at the brewery after eighth grade. Susan served as president of Leinenkugel's from 1927 to 1929. Also born in 1870, William took an active role at the brewery, until he succumbed to tuberculosis at age 27.
