Jack Hayes - 1882-1961 / Ann Stapp Hayes - 1885-1972
Recognized as one of Louisiana's outstanding educators, Mr. Hayes upheld high standards of excellence, leading his students and teachers by his firm example and hopeful expectations. Under his administration this school provided broad opportunities for the full development of students potential as learners and good citizens.
With an almost uncanny ability to name his students individually and to show concern for each, he was able to demand the best from all. this he did while offering encouragement compassion, and friendly counsel.
Mr. Hayes embodied a rare combination of focus on human values, administrative effectiveness, and educational vision.
He is remembered also for his contribution to the community through his work in his service club, his church, and other worthwhile organizations. The progress of Northeast Louisiana University since 1931 is a reminder of his work with

This memorial acknowledges the great debt of honor, respect and gratitude owed to one who exemplified high ideals and loving concern for the school and the citizens of Ouachita Parish.
As head librarian for many years, she encouraged academic achievement and pride in perfection.
Her desire for the success of the school and its students was evidenced by her untiring efforts to promote quality education.
