Inscription.
The carding mill provided the essential service of processing raw wool into soft but strong usable cloth. The mill's placement took advantage of the same flowing water that powered the saw and grist mills upstream. Carding cleans the wool fibers and aligns the prior to spinning them into yarn. Yarn is woven into raw cloth and is then "fulled" which further cleans the cloth, raises the knap, and evens it out to a uniform thickness and density. Originally built in c1837 by the Jones and leased to various operators, the mill burned in 1868 and was rebuilt. The Greens later purchased the mill from the Jones estate and ran it until it closed in 1917.

The Lundhurst Exhibition (or Fair) was an annual two-day even that began in 1877. The Agriculture Society's two-story building on the site showed horses, cattle, sheep, swine & poultry. Other events, viewed from the grandstand, included horse races - first with work horses - foot races, barrel races, and bicycle races. "Fakirsmplied their games on the grounds. Wheels of Fortune, sweat boards, etc., were allowed full swing and not a few lost a good portions of their hard earned dollars". (Athens Reporte, 1891). The exhibition closed during WWI and the fairgrounds were sold in 1916.
