Fountainhead of Methodism laid by South Carolinians 156 years ago. Recognition goes mainly to Capt. E. C. Leech, whose influence was largely responsible for the construction of this third building, ably assisted by David Parker Tunnell, member of the Church of Christ, and both descendants of Piney Grove's founders. Dedicated May, 1892, Columbus circuit, Columbus district. Mrs. Locky Adams Wood Davis, only surviving member at dedication. was the step-mother of Frances Harriet Davis, wife of Capt. E. C. Leech.
Their descendants place this marker in loving remembrance.
