Excerpt: In a faηade of the Rotterdam police headquarters a mosaic work is placed in commemoration of four men of the resistance who were executed by the Germans on the 24th of October 1944. It was a reprisal for the successful assault of the resistance on the police headquarters whereby 40 men, merely political prisoners, were liberated.(Submitted on April 9, 2024.)
The original memorial was a wooden cross, of which several are placed at places where people of the resistance died or were executed. Because of the new construction of the police headquarters at this spot the mosaic is placed instead of the cross.
