On his resistance activities (in translation): …In 1942-1943, he actively contributed to the escape of intelligence officers in the service of the Allies via Spain and Switzerland. He established a false papers service to help those resisting the STO and organized the Resistance in his district.(Submitted on April 9, 2024.)
Appointed head of the OCM of the 8th arrondissement by Jacques Piette, national military leader of the OCM, he was promoted on June 3, 1944 to chief of staff of the FFI of the same district. After June 6, 1944, he participated in several sabotages of enemy convoys. In July 1944, he personally ensured the transfer to Paris of weapons parachuted in the Loiret.
Despite serious health problems, he took part in the fight for the liberation of Paris, notably at La Concorde and La Madeleine. On August 25, 1944, he was named commander of the FFI of the 8th. He also became vice-president of the liberation committee of the 8th arrondissement.
Patrice de Bellaigue died at his home on December 6, 1944. On September 4, 1945, he was awarded the distinction of "Mort pour la France", the medical advisory commission having considered that the illness that caused Patrice de Bellaigue's death was contracted in service.
