1. Panama City Publishing Company Marker
Inscription. Constructed by George M. West, one of the "founding fathers" of Panama City, it was at this site that Mr. West and his wife Lillian Carlisle West "Miss Lillian" published three local newspapers, numerous books and promotional materials for economic development of the area. Mr. West died in 1926, and his wife continued writing and editing the newspaper and running the business. His great-great-grandson Charles "Buddy" West was proprietor until 2005 when he sold the building to the City of Panama City for restoration and preservation as a Publishing Museum and historic showplace.
