Inscription. This cottage style home was built on an Indian midden by early business developer George H. McKenzie and his wife Frances. It was purchased in 1928 by Professor Monte Pickens, a renowned musician. It remained in the Pickens family until 1955. Ownership changed several times until 1965 when it was purchased by Edgar and Edna Hauser of Birmingham to be used as a summer house. Although the house was renovated in 1994 by the current owners, it retains its earliest board and batten cottage style.
