Inscription. Volunteers are the heart and soul of small community based organizations like the Bethesda Community Base Ball Club. Dedicated volunteers Becky Crowley, Tom DiMisa, Jeff Haven, and Bill Hickman are the secret sauce that make Big Train baseball at Povich Field so special.

Alexander and Christopher DiMisa, sons of Mercedes Sundeen and Tom DiMisa, were two of those volunteers. For twelve years, starting at the age of five, Alex was a Big Train volunteer working to help enrich the experience of Big Train fans of all ages. Whether selling raffle tickets or helping to run the concession stand, Alex brought joy to those he served. From Cub Scout to Eagle Scout, at Gonzaga College High School and Fordham University, Alex dedicated his life to serving others.

On January 18, 2021, when the fire alarm went off in his Brooklyn apartment building, Alex grabbed his fire extinguisher and helped put out the fire. He helped his neighbor and her dog safely out of her apartment and stayed with them in the smoke-filled hallway until the fire fighters left. Tragically, this was Alex's last act of service and heroism.

To honor his service to others and inspire a new generation of young servant leaders, we are proud to name the high school volunteers who help us run our Big Train operation "Alexander DiMisa High School Leadership
