1. Original Charles Cotton’s Store Marker
Inscription. Charles and Eunice Cotton moved to Millville in 1909 and opened a 'General Merchandise Store" in this building and operated it successfully for the next six years. In 1915, he sold out his interests to the Brigman family. It became "Brigman & Co.". until 1922. It was then leased and sold to R. F. George in 1925 and remained in the George family until 1964. Members of the George family operated several businesses both here and in adjacent buildings. Troy Gilbert operated Gilbert's Drugs here and later Jake & Inez Sims operated Sims Sundry Shop. The Beckham family owned "Betty's Family Restaurant" here until 1995 when it became "Sweet Magnolia's." It stands as testament to the years when, Millville was Bay County's largest city and "downtown Millville" was a thriving center of community activity.
