1. Stephenson/Turner House Marker
Inscription. This lovely home was built in 1913 by M. C. Stephenson for his large family. After his death in 1916, it became home to the Wilburn F. Turner family when they moved to Millville in 1917. W. F. Turner was an early Mayor of Millville and a wonderful carpenter who constructed many of the, early homes in Old Orchard and the Cove School in 1937. Members of the Turner family married and brought home several generations of grandchildren. The youngest son, W. Fred Turner, was a Bay County Circuit Judge who earlier in his law career changed the U.S. legal system forever with the landmark "Gideon Case." It brought about the Public Defender System across the entire country. After 1950, the house was passed on to other owners but is fondly still remembered as the "Will & Frony Turner House." The exterior of the home is true to the original 1913 construction.
