1. Emanuel Home Marker
Inscription. Built in 1925 by A.L. Barber and wife Bonnie E. Dykes. It was owned and occupied by Clara M. Dykes and husband Donald E. Emanuel after 1925. It still remains in the ownership of the Emanuel family descendants. Both the Dykes and the Emanuel families were among the earliest settlers and pioneers of Millville. The Emanuel family raised five sons, D.L., Odolph, Randal, William and D. Nixon in this early bungalow style home. Each of the Emanuel sons served their country during the war years and returned home to raise their families in the Bay County area. The grounds around the home have always provided the neighbors with pleasant views. Bonnie E. and Clara Dykes are daughters of William James Dykes (1864-1928) and Jane E. Brock. Donald E. Emanuel is the oldest son of William Owen "Bud" Emanuel (1878-1967) and Ida Knowles. Both W.J. Dykes and W.O. Emanuel came to St. Andrews Bay from Jackson County before 1900 and left a large and well-known family legacy in the Bay County area.
