Inscription.
Childe Hassam, the American impressionist painter, was born and educated in Boston. He resided in the Albemarle at 282 Columbus Avenue.

"I lived on Columbus Avenue in Boston. The street was all paved with asphalt, and I used to think it was very pretty when it was all wet and shining, and caught the reflection of passing vehicles. I was always interested in the movements of humanity in the street, and I painted my first picture from the window.”
