1. Henry W. Johnson Home Marker
Inscription. A charming bungalow built by H. W. Johnson for his family. The property was a wedding gift to Johnson's first bride from his uncle, G. B. Thompson. From 1910 to 1924 Monte and Lillie Pickens, founder of St. Andrews Conservatory of Music and Oratory Academy, owned the home and property. Between 1924 and 1961 owners used the house as a "summer home." The house once sat directly south facing St. Andrews Bay on what was then known as Sea View Avenue, now named W. Beach Drive. In 1963 it was moved to the present location. This turn-of-the-century bungalow features original dogtrot hall and "fish scale" shingles in the gables. During its history, antique Queen Anne Era diamond pane casement windows and doors were added.
