Excerpt (in translation): Born July 21, 1907 in Paris (12th arrondissement), died August 26, 1944 at the Vaugirard hospital in Paris (15th arrondissement); FFI resistant.

Son of Léopold Budant and Noémie Gouttière, farmers, Paul Budant was married on October 25, 1930 in Suze-sur-Sarthe (Sarthe) to Denise Salliot and lived at 32 rue Poliveau in Paris (5th arr.). During the Liberation battles he joined the FFI of Vaugirard’s squadron. On August 25 around 11 p.m. while chasing a militiaman, he was hit by a bullet near 23 rue des Morillons in Paris (15th arrondissement). Transported to Vaugirard hospital, he died there the next day.

His name appears on a commemorative plaque where the bullet hit him. The date of his death which appears is incorrect, August 28 instead of the 26th…
