Kingwood in Preston County, West Virginia — The American South (Appalachia)
Central Preston Middle School
The beautiful building in front of you was built in 2015, but the history of Central Preston Middle School is much deeper. Central Preston Middle School was formed during the 1991-1992 school year as a result of the county high schools consolidating to form Preston High School. Originally, the home of Wildcats was located in the old Central Preston Senior / Kingwood High School location on High Street. In January of 2007, due to structural issues with the building on High Street, Central Preston students and staff were moved to the 9th grade addition of Preston High School. They would remain at Preston High School for over eight years. In 2010, Preston County citizens voted to build the new Central Preston Middle School.
Erected 2023 by Family Engagement, coordinated by Paul Martin, Principal, Central Preston Middle School. (Marker Number 9.)
