English:
An ensemble of late gothic houses form the picturesque square for the Bread Market. The fountain in the Bread Market recalls Füssen's most important trade, making lutes and violins. Füssen is regarded as the cradle of commercial lute-making in Europe. In 1562 the oldest guild of this craft was founded here.

The fountain was built by the sculptor Josef Michael Neustifter in 1990. The history of Füssen's lute and violin makers is documented in the Füssen Heritage Museum.

Erected by Füssen Allgäu.
