Jeremiah Willey Cabin

Jeremiah Willey Cabin. . , Jeremiah and Samantha Call Willey built this cabin in 1854 on land they owned at 495 East 500 South in Bountiful. In 1860 William and Fanny Burgess Gorringe became the owners, and in 1880 sold the cabin and part of the land to Daniel and Mary Barlow Hall. The cabin remained in the Hall/Sedgwick family for nearly sixty years. Richard and Mary Emma Hall Sedgwick became the owners in 1899, followed by Richard Hall and Dora Belle Garrett Sedgwick in 1901, and George and Clara Burningham Sedgwick in 1931. Over the years, several rooms and a porch were added to the cabin., In 1939 Grant and Emma Neath became owners. They made many improvements over the next fifty years, enclosing the cabin within their home. In 1992 South Davis Community Hospital purchased the property for a new parking lot. As the structure was being torn down, workers discovered the original pioneer cabin, preserved in a time-capsule of lath and plaster for over half a century. Bountiful City moved the cabin to the 400 North Park, and the Bountiful-area Daughters of Utah Pioneers provided furnishings. In Spring 2005, the cabin was moved to the city campus at 800 South Main, and moved again in May 2017 to 305 North Main, next to the Bountiful Museum. The cabin stands today as an enduring symbol of Bountiful's rich pioneer heritage., Site No. 110 South Davis Chapter
