1. Schlachter Building Marker
Inscription. Built at 123 E. Commercial Ave. in 1910 by Nicholas Schlachter. Occupied by Gettysburg State Bank in 1920, it was then absorbed by Potter County Bank in 1927. The bank vault is still intact. The large structure housed a variety of stores and mercantile shops. The first granite column came by rail from Milbank, South Dakota and was rejected, a second column was then shipped and installed.
 
Erected 1997 by Gettysburg Historical Preservation Commission and South Dakota Historical Society.
