Sound Stages B and C were constructed in the summer of 1939 as the sound recording facility for animated films. Because of the studio's location near the Burbank Airport, special priority was given to soundproofing the building with state-of-the-art acoustics, including a "building within a building" design for noise reduction.

Stage B, known as the "Dialogue Stage" was where character voices were recorded for most of the animated classics, including "Alice in Wonderland", "Lady and the Tramp", "Peter Pan", "Cinderella", "Sleeping Beauty", and "The Jungle Book".

Stage C was used for the recording of various sound effects for the animated films and short subjects. Animal sounds of the live action "True Life Adventures" were also re-created and recorded on Stage C. Many of the unique sound effects props and gadgets for these processes were invented by Disney technicians and recordists.

In the summer of 1939, the studios were extensively renovated to meet improved sound technology for film and television projects. Stage B now accommodates both andto dialogue recording (ADR) and sound effects recording (Foley). Stage C has been converted into a dubbing stage used in the final mixing of film and video sound.
