Le 5 mai 1918, l'Olympique de Pantin et le Football-Club de Lyon disputaient la première finale de la coupe de France de football. Alors que la Grande Guerre n'est pas encore finie, le trophée est dédié à Charles Simon, dirigeant sportif mort au front en 1915.
L'initiative de cette plaque revient aux élèves de CM2 de l'école de la rue Saïda.
In this location stood the stadium of the Legion Saint-Michel.
On May 5, 1918, Olympique de Pantin and Football-Club de Lyon played in the first final of the French Football Cup (=soccer). Although the Great War was not yet over, the trophy was dedicated to Charles Simon, a sports leader who died at the front in 1915.
The initiative for this plaque goes to the CM2 students from the Rue Saïda school.

Excerpt (in translation): No trace of it remains. At 78-84, rue Olivier-de-Serres (15th century), there is nothing to suggest that a football stadium existed in the place of the current “Orange Tower”. For the CM2B students at the Saïda school, right next door, that's the whole problem. Upset by this oversight, they sent a letter to the mayor of the district, Philippe Goujon, on March 13. Purpose of the missive? Have a commemorative plaque installed “that everyone could see”.(Submitted on May 11, 2024.)
The first French Football Cup took place here.
And the students have no shortage of arguments: the letter reveals that this old stadium hosted the first French Football Cup, at the end of the First World War. “Olympique de Pantin won 3-0 against FC Lyon on May 5, 1918. That’s exactly 100 years ago!” enthused the children.
After some research, the class also discovered that during this final, Belgian soldiers had to complete Pantin's team, some of whose players had died in combat. “They sacrificed their lives. […] We hope that you will help us to publicize this fascinating story because it would be sad to forget all that,” they concluded.
