Excerpt (in translation): On August 19, 1944, the Police Liberation Committee ordered the insurrection of resistance groups made up of policemen; the police headquarters was occupied from that morning and the police officers that had been striking since August 15 then regained strategic possession of the deserted police stations.

It was in this context that peacekeeper Germain Bedeau, thirty-six years old, volunteered to go with a group of five men. Their mission was to attack a garage

Captured along with his colleague Philippe Chevrier, the two men were executed on the spot. His body was found in a mass grave at the Air Ministry shooting range in Paris (15th Arrondissement).
