1. Burbank Railway Depot Marker
Inscription.
On February 28th, 1873, Doctor David Burbank sold a right-of-way through his property for one dollar, in anticipation of the benefit that railway transportation would have on his property. This right-of-way provided the connection to Los Angeles from the San Fernando Valley that stimulated the development of Burbank.

On this site was constructed the original wooden depot built in the late 1800’s and then replaced in 1929 with a one story stucco frame station with a red tile roof and terra-cotta detailing that was destroyed by fire in 1997.

We dedicate this memorial to the many people who arrived at the Burbank Depot and contributed to the growth of Burbank and to the importance that railway transportation has played in our community.

Erected 1992 by Burbank Historical Society, and City of Burbank.
