The Toni Koopmanplein refers to the architect Antony (Toni) Koopman, 1948-1982. He was one of the pioneers of Rotterdam urban renewal and the first urban renewal project coordinator of Het Oude Westen (i.e., this neighborhood) from 1975 to 1982.
