Excerpt (in translation): The memorial plaque commemorates the stay of Elvis Presley and his family in 1958 at Ritters Parkhotel, today's Steigenberger Hotel. The hotel on the Kaiser-Friedrich-Promenade was the Presley clan's first address in Germany. The plaque shows hotel director Egon Steigenberger welcoming the Presley clan to their three-day stay in the spa town. Father Vernon, grandmother Minnie Mae, his friends Red West and Lamar Fike, and two bodyguards arrived by plane from the United States. They took up their first quarters at the Bad Homburg hotel on October 4, 1958. Elvis had arrived by ship five days earlier and was housed in the Ray Barracks in Friedberg. He was given two days of special leave, which he spent with his family at Ritters Parkhotel. His room at the time, 206, was renamed the "Elvis Presley Suite" in 2019. After their stay in Bad Homburg, the Elvis clan moved on to Hilberts Parkhotel in Bad Nauheim...(Submitted on May 22, 2024.)
