Regarding Grand Army of the Republic Monument. The Grand Army of the Republic was a veteran’s organization of Civil War Union soldiers. After the death of its last member, the GAR was dissolved in 1856. The Woman’s Relief Corps war originally founded as the official Women’s Auxiliary to the GAR. It is still in operating today as a charitable organization dedicated to historical preservation of its and GAR records.
