Dr. Irene Jameson. Irene was a beloved member of this community, who served as Sea Isle City's Director of Public Relations for nearly two decades. A founding member of the Beachcomber Tour Guides, she was also involved with AARP, the Beautification Committee, the Environmental Commission, the North End Committee, the South Shore Regional Tourism Council, the Chamber of Commerce and other civic organizations. While volunteering with the local tourism commission in 1995, Irene founded Sea Isle's Polar Bear Plunge and was the event's "Polar Bear Queen" for the next thirteen years. She also helped create Sea Isle City's Sara the Turtle Festival, family dance parties, historical trolley tours and concerts under the stars. Always happy to interact with others, Irene was a volunteer emcee during summer events, and was well-known for her sense of humor.
