More about this memorial. This marker is one of more than a dozen identical 9/11 memorial markers dedicated around the country by Alderwoods Group, a funeral services company. At least three of these plaques can be found in the Chicago area, including one a quarter-mile southwest of here in Forest View. One more can be found in Elmwood Park, a near-west suburb of Chicago, and another in the Dunning neighborhood on Chicago's northwest side. While an article about the unveiling of this marker in Stickney could not be found, it had to have been dedicated between 2002 and 2006, which were the only years the company existed. Alderwoods was formed in 2002
after the funeral services company Loewen Group emerged from bankruptcy; it was acquired by Service Corporation International in 2006.
