La place Mosquee Moulay Eyazid a été nommée en relation avec la mosquée de la Kasbah almohade, qui porte le nom du sultan alaouite Moulay Al-Yazid à l’époque Alaouite, car elle était connue sous plusieurs autres noms tels que la mosquée Al Aadam Al Aala, la mosquée du palais et la mosquée Al-Kamel, où la place a toujours pris le nom de la mosquée, et elle était également célèbre pour être un espace de rencontre pour voir et recevoir les sultans pendant qu’ils venaient prier et célébrer des événements religieux.

Moulay El Yazid Mosque Square was named in relation to the Almohad Kasbah Mosque, which bears the name of the Alawite Sultan Moulay El-Yazid in the Alaouite era, as it was known by several other names such as the Al Aadam Al Aala Mosque, the Palace Mosque and the Al-Kamel Mosque, where the square always took the name of the mosque, and it was also famous for being a space for people to meet to see and to receive the sultans while they came to pray and to celebrate religious events.

سميت ساحة مولاي اليزيد، نسبة الى مسجد القصبة الموحدي الذي يحمل اسم السلطان العلوي مولاي اليزيد في الحقبة العلوية كما عرف بعدة أسماء أخرى مثل جامع الأعظم الأعلى وجامع القصر وجامع الكامل حيث كانت الساحة تتخذ دائما اسم المسجد، كما اشتهرت بكونها فضاء لتمع الناس لرؤية واستقبال السلاطين اثناء قدومهم للصلاة والمناسبات الدينية
