Fred Manfra, the 2018 Herb Armstrong Award winner, spent 24-plus years broadcasting Orioles baseball, second longest tenure in club history, and was the first Baltimore native to serve as a broadcaster for the Orioles. Returned home in 1993 after two decades of network radio, covering the Olympics, Triple Crown, NBA and NHL playoffs, to join the Orioles Radio Network before retiring during 2017. The consummate professional, he also worked on television broadcasts, was emcee for many club events, and was actively involved in numerous charitable causes in the greater Baltimore area during his career.
