1. L/CPL George Louis Dramis Marker
Inscription. Served with the 3rd Squad 2nd Plt. Golf Company. Battalion Landing Team 2/8 during Operation "Urgent Fury" the Grenada Invasion.
November 16, 1983
Showed outstanding alertness, diligence and selflessness. During operations ashore on Grenada repeatedly demonstrated alertness and attention to detail he was responsible for discovering a potential tunnel opening under Fort Frederick and at all times maintained an alert outpost when his platoon was short on food & water. He was put in charge of a detail that gathered fruit for the platoon thereby materially contributing to the platoon's welfare. Dramis was the subject of a meritorious mast and promotion on December 4, 1983.
January 30, 1984. While under the longest and heaviest mortar attack at the Beriut, Lebanon Airport, L/CPL Dramis was fatally shot in the chest by a sniper's bullet, being the last Marine killed in actual combat, No. 259.
