Stadium Area in Baltimore, Maryland — The American Northeast (Mid-Atlantic)
William "Wild Bill" Hagy, Fan
Inducted 2008
| | Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame | |
Considered by many the epitome of an Orioles fan, Wild Bill Hagy was well known for leading "The Roar from 34" in his upper deck section at Memorial Stadium in the 1970s and '80s often coming down to the dugout to lead the crowd in cheers as he spelled out O-R-I-O-L-E-S. A lifelong Baltimorean and die-hard Orioles fan since 1954, Wild Bill became a local institution, as popular around town as many of the players he cheered. In his memory, the Orioles and the Oriole Advocates created the Wild Bill Hagy Award to honor fans after his untimely passing in 2007 and made him the first recipient.
Erected by Baltimore Orioles Baseball Club.
