Bob Brown was a member of the Baltimore Orioles' front office for 35 years, including stints as traveling secretary and publications director, but it was as director of public relations that he left his mark on the ballclub and his profession. His diligence in recording, discovering and maintaining statistics, notes, files and artifacts on Orioles players and events set new standards for the sports public relations industry. His efforts made it possible to develop new historical references and helped to create such entities as the Orioles Hall of Fame. He was honored by his peers as the second winner of the Robert O. Fishel Award for Public Relations Excellence, after the award's namesake.
