Inscription.
Eddie Watt, the Orioles' top reliever for five seasons, broke in as a rookie with Baltimore's first World Championship team in 1966. He went 2-5 in 13 starts that year but switched full-time to relief and became a valuable member of the Orioles bullpen over the next eight seasons. In 1969, he went 5-2 with a 1.56 ERA and a career-high 16 saves. He led the team in saves in 1969, 1970 and 1971, the only time the Orioles won three straight American league pennants.
