Orioles Hall of Fame
The Orioles Hall of Fame was conceived in 1977 by the Oriole Advocates, in cooperation with the Baltimore Orioles. It was created to honor Orioles managers, coaches and players who had made exceptional contributions, both on and off the field.
Oriole Hall of Fame Members are chosen by a panel which includes Baltimore area media, the Orioles Advocates and selected Orioles front office officials. The formal introduction of each new member is conducted at the ballpark in special pre-game ceremonies.
In 1995, the Herbert E. Armstrong Award was created to honor non-uniform personnel for their contributions to the Orioles organization. In 2008, the Wild Bill Hagy Award was created to honor fans whose exceptional support of the Orioles inspires others.
This permanent site for the Orioles Hall of Fame plaques was dedicated December 3, 1992.
