Gold Star Families Memorial Monument
This monument honors, recognizes, and serves Gold Star Families and the legacy of their Loved Ones who have paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the Armed Forces of the United States of America.
The Homeland panel depicts images representing Monroe County, Ohio which is home to many Gold Star Families; it is our people, it is our family, it is our freedom. The art work in the homeland panel represents a glimpse of Monroe County in one shot. The picture that you see are images from Beallsville, Woodsfield, and the beautiful Ohio River Valley. The Family panel represents the uniquely brave spirit of our military families who provide support to their Loved Ones serving in our Armed Forces of the United States of America. This panel represents what we all hold most dear, and that is our families and the strong bond that we maintain.

The Sacrifice panel represents the sacrifices made by our Gold Star Families by the loss of their Loved One while in service to our country. Shown is an image of the Beallsville Cemetery. This is the final resting place for over 250 Veterans from the Revolutionary War to the Gulf War in Iraq, as well as 5 young men who sacrificed their lives during the Vietnam War. The silhouette of the saluting service member represents the Legacy of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the Armed Forces of the United States of America. This monument is a project of The Monroe County, Ohio Gold Star Families Committee, the many citizens and businesses that donated to this project, and the Woody Williams Foundation.
